How to navigate the M-Notice Finder site

Search Form

The easiest way to find M-Notices is just to go to the find page and enter your search criteria in the form. To find a specific document just enter the document number like msn 1802, mgn 156 etc. To search for content just enter code of safe working practices, fresh water guidelines etc.

The syntax is more or less like Google, i.e. use quotes for a phrase, like "a phrase", use the minus sign to exclude a word, like -not_wanted.

You can also use advanced search to filter on MIN, MGN or MSN, search for document numbers, keywords or phrases in the title or inside the document.

Browser URL

Another option is to include the search criteria directly in the web browser URL (address) field like in the following examples:

A formal description of these patterns is given in Definitions below.

Sorting

Results are by default returned ordered by document type and number. As this is not always desired the sort order can be changed by adding sort parameters to the URL in form of a "query string".

See Wikipedia for more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Query_string.

If you for instance want the 5 latest documents about radars, use the following URL:
http://mnoticefinder.com/contents/radar?sort=date.down&limit=5.

By saving queries like this as browser bookmarks, the latest information on any subject can be found at any time by a simple click in your browser.

Definitions:

<type>'id' (document type and number), 'title', 'date' and 'branch'.
<order>'up' (normal order) and 'down' (reversed order).
<limit>any positive number

The following options exist:

sort=<type>.<order>
sort2=<type>.<order>
limit=<limit>

Definitions

With the following definitions:

<type>document type, i.e. mgn, min or msn.
<number>document number, i.e. any positive number.
<words>words in no particular order in title or contents.

we can describe all valid URL patterns a bit more formally:

Basic URL patterns

/<type>will return all documents of type <type>.
/<number>will return all documents with number <number>.
/<type>/<number>will return the document <type><number>.
/title/<words>will return documents of any type with the words <words> in the title.
/contents/<words>will return documents of any type with the words <words> anywhere in the document text.

URL pattern combinations

Finally some combinations of the patterns above...

/<type>/title/<words>
/<type>/contents/<words>
/title/<words>/contents/<words>
/<type>/title/<words>/contents/<words>
